Somar International Ltd, the company behind Powerboss, has achieved a
prestigious Queen’s Award.
Somar International, which exports its energy saving motor control technology to
over 75 countries around the world, has received the Queen’s Award for
Enterprise in International Trade.
The highly coveted Queen’s Award, the most prestigious business award in the UK,
has been awarded to the company following three years of unprecedented growth
and success.
Somar International Ltd designs, develops and distributes its Powerboss range of
electronic, energy saving motor controllers, which are used across a wide range
of industrial sectors.
Since it started trading as Somar Environmental Systems in 1992, the company has
undergone significant growth, with its products now effectively presented across
75 countries globally thanks to a strong independent distributor network.
A major focus on the training and development of its distributor network has
proven to be a key element for Somar International with turnover more than
doubling over the past three years, along with the workforce which has grown
from 7 to 16.
Marketing Director David Bone said receiving the Queen’s Award was a reflection
of the strength and expertise of the team at Somar International.
“We are absolutely delighted to have achieved such a prestigious award--this is
a testament to a great collective effort. We have a fantastic team in place here
at Somar– each and every one of them directly and enthusiastically contribute to
corporate development.
Only last month, the company achieved its Investor in People (IIP) status.
“What with on-going personnel development through the Investor in People
programme, an exciting on-going product development programme, an evolving
distributor training and support programme and now the Queen’s Award accolade,
we feel that we have put solid foundations in place to build the Somar
International of the future”.
“Receiving the Queen’s Award will undoubtedly help raise our profile across the
global marketplace as it has a reputation for excellence internationally as well
as within the UK itself,” added Mr Bone.
